Bariatric Surgery Evaluation

A pre-surgical psychological evaluation is a standard care of practice that takes place before a bariatric procedure is performed, and is often required by most insurance companies as part of a patient’s pre-surgical work up for medical clearance.

The purpose of the evaluation is to determine one's ability to make decisions based on the benefits and risks of the medical procedure, assess if psychological issues or stressors are present that could interfere with one's recovery process, and provide important treatment recommendations before or after the procedure based on test findings.

Testing results will be released to the bariatric surgeon to assist with your treatment.

Feel free to contact Dr. Gibson at 972-393-1596, Ext. 61 to talk more about your concerns surrounding a psychological evaluation.  She will be happy to address any questions you may have.
